Get-together party


The get-together party takes place on Wednesday 1st of June at the Conference Hotel Caribia (Kongressikuja 1, Turku).

The get-together party will be held right after the opening of the conference and the plenary sessions. 

There is a buffet and the evening will start with official welcomes. The dinner is not ‘formal’ and the dress code is smart casual. Full details on the get-together party will be included in the delegate pack you will receive on registration. The venue is near the centre and no extra transportation is needed.

The Conference Gala Dinner

The conference gala dinner takes place on Thursday 2nd of June at the Turku Castle (Linnankatu 80, Turku).

The gala dinner is full of history and there the renaissance-style dinner is served with entertainment. The duke and duchess will bring us back to the renaissance time. The dress code is business casual. Full details of the dinner and entertainment will be included in the delegate pack that you will receive on registration.

Ruins of blocks- tour

The tour can be booked when registering to the event. The price for one person is 55 EUR.The Ruins of blocks-tour takes place during 10:00-13:30 on Thursday 2 June 2011.

This journey will take you back several centuries to medieval Turku. Experience the Middle Ages with all your senses! The guided tour starts from the market-square of Turku from where it continues to Aboa Vetus by foot. The tour leader tells you about the history and the enchanting city of Turku during the walk. The museum is located near city centre, along the beautiful Aurajoki river.

Aboa Vetus is a private museum which concentrates to the Finnish cultural heritage of the Middle Ages. In the museum, you can experience a piece of old Turku in the middle of the ruins of blocks and houses. A guide travels with the group telling the history of the oldest town in Finland.

You can hear the real sounds of Middle Ages’ church bells, people talking and a dog barking. After having mental nourishment a delicious lunch is served in the museum’s own cafeteria Aula Café. Stomachs full and Middle Ages blocks on mind the tour leader takes the group back to the market-square of Turku with one experience richer.

As Turku is the European Capital of Culture in 2011, Turku has a lot to offer. The Turku 2011 programme is the most important element of the Capital of Culture. The Capital of Culture year will comprise a total of about 150 programme projects and numerous individual events.
